Analysis of some of the Guernsey KPI's
What I find of interest is the range of results in each of these tables, and I hope that this information will encourage all of the group members to examine what they can change and if so the benefit to their businesses of doing so.
This slide shows the difference in age at first calving of the various Guernsey herds using the data collected at the monthly NMR recording and covers the last two years.
A calculation has been made using the average daily yield for each herd times the extra days between the target 2 year old calving date multiplied by 21 pence per litre.
This shows the average Somatic Cell Counts and the housing system and shows that the lowest SCC are generally found in cubicle systems.
This looks at 305 yield averages and the feeding systems in use.
Again a calculation has been made using the MDC figure of £2.30 per day for lost income for each day that the average Calving Interval is extended beyond the target of 365 days. There are however strong arguments that as yields rise so Calving interval is of lesser importance.
