Annual Judges Workshop 2019.

The Annual Judges Workshop was held on Wednesday April 17th at Bickfield Farm, Compton Martin, Nr. Bristol, by kind invitation of the Durbin Family. This was an ideal opportunity for the Family and staff to show off some of their stock as they are unable to get out in the show ring due to movement restrictions.

Merion Jones R.I.P.

We are very saddened to inform you that our valued member Merion Jones of the Aber prefix of St Clears in Wales, passed away last evening following a long battle with cancer. Merion sold his herd a few years ago but he bred some excellent bulls for the Society and his Aber Samson was also sold into the domestic market through Genus.

Our very best wishes go out to Chris Carpenter who has been involved in a serious farm accident, being crushed by beef bulls. He has undergone 7+ hours of surgery, pinning all of his ribs in place and resecuring his muscles.

Harland View Sale. Monday August 6th 2018.

Trade was excellent at Andrew and Debbie Lewis’ Channel Island Sale. their Jerseys sold extremely well with almost all lots selling at well over 1000gns. The Guernseys also sold well with over 40 lots selling at 1000gns plus. Top price was lot 289, Hartland View Katapult Puccinellia selling for 2000gns to the Durbin Family of Bristol.

Chris Watson R.I.P.

Very sad to have to report to our members that Chris Watson passed away last evening. He had fought courageously against illness for some months and  had been in hospital last week but he died peacefully at home. Lt Col Chris Watson has been an integral part of The English Guernsey Cattle Society for many years.
