Supreme Champion at the Royal Cornwall 2013

Tredinney Yogis Gabrielle 2 became the first Guernsey in living memory to win Supreme at the Royal Cornwall and only the sixth Guernsey in the last 30 years to take a Supreme Championship. She came out today looking better than she had on Thursday a great credit to James Warren and his hard working team.

The Addington Fund Draw 2013

Tickets for the draw to raise funds for the Addington Fund are available , the Prize is a choice of Hamps Valley Annabelle 7 or £1000 and the tickets sell for £20 each7 The services of the Addington Fund have never been in greater demand as a combination of 12 months of appalling weather combined with rising input costs and falling returns have brought many farming families to the brink and the Fund are able to make direct payments to alleviate distress.

Export to Romania

Hamps Valley Kiaora 11 is to travel to Romania next week to become the foundation of a first herd of Guernseys in Eastern Europe. Bred by Don and Kath Salt at Grindon ,Leek Staffordshire she is sired by Mint and in calf to HV Mays Yogi who is out of the 14 yr old Ex 94 Oakdean May2.

North Somerset Show 2013

North Somerset Show 2013. This year’s North Somerset Show was held on Monday 6th May at Wraxall Nr. Bristol. A far cry from last year’s show, the day was beautiful and not a quagmire in sight!!! Exhibitors with cattle forward were Brian and Sheila Adams, also representing the ARC Addington Fund, and the Parfitt Family.

Semen order for Brittany.

        EGCS have recieved an order today for 80 straws of semen from 2 bulls Trewey Surprise and       Trewarnevas Red Oak, to be used by a group of 4 Herds in Brittany that are managing their herds on an extensive grazing regime and have used Jersey semen in the past.

Top 10 sires with most daughters registered in 2012

Seth Johnson listed the 10 sires with most daughters registered in the USA in 2012 in the April AGA Journal, he commented that 9/10 are “Proven” sires and 8/10 are A2xA2 and accounted for 28% of heifers registered. In England& Wales a different picture emerges with 7/10 most popular bulls are young bulls and they account for 42% of the heifers registered.

Lifetime Production Awards April 2013

After each of the Guernsey proof runs ,lifetime production awards are calculated and awarded automatically and pedigrees are amended with either Diploma of GDM (Grand Diploma of Merit) for a lifetime yield of more than 5000 kgs of Fat +Protein CM/CME (Certificate of Merit) .The production level has been raised from 2500 to 3000 kgs of Fat and Protein before the animal reaches 8 years of age.
